More about 5 week yoga courses in Headington, Oxford:
Designed to support week-on-week ‘progress’, just as you’d hope for in a weekly exercise class or gym session. Progress could feel or look like greater strength and flexibility in your body, just like a gym class. However, yoga also offers the opportunity for progress in these areas mentally and emotionally too. You’ll also build community by seeing the same people week on week and by investing that regular time in yourself, create a new healthy habit that re-sets you for the week ahead, creating space for yourself and holistic benefits in body and mind become integrated.
What happens in the free meditation sessions?
These offer the opportunity to start the working week sitting or lying in a quiet space, time just for you. We’ll spend five minutes setting up mats and props at the beginning and clearing up at the end. We’ll open and close with a shared breath or two, perhaps an offering of focus, otherwise this is a self-led practice, in which I also participate. If you find it hard to concentrate, you can simply use the opportunity to rest. It’s free but you do need to book your space!
What is slow vinyasa flow?
Vinyasa simply means to “place in a special way”. You don’t need any experience of yoga to attend, everything is guided and you’ll learn beneficial stretches and breath practices. Traditionally it is mid-paced movement class, but I find people experience greater benefit holistically from sinking into the shapes and moving more slowly with the breath. This means we’re building mental, physical and emotional strength, resilience, tolerance and compassion in body and mind. Just because it is slow doesn’t mean it isn’t strong! Expect breath practices, sun salutations, a variety of options to challenge or not, ending with restful poses. Find out more here.
What is restorative yoga?
Supported by a variety of beautiful props, your body remembers how to rest and release in a variety of different poses that create a sense of both openness and deep relaxation in body and mind. Find out more here.
What is deep rest yoga nidra?
Usually experienced lying down or sitting comfortably, you are carefully guided through a process of deep relaxation using breathwork, visualisation and body scans. Brainwaves enter a restful state which clients describe as dreamy, floaty and blissful. Find out more here.
