My aim is to create a space and experience where you feel safe and held and can let go of everything you’re carrying. A place where you can be vulnerable, open and free. Sometimes this means we may have a good belly laugh together, sometimes your tears may come. They are all welcome.
My approach is to treat you as a whole woman, not a list of individual symptoms, so you can look forward to leaving your treatment feeling really nurtured and supported.
All massage appointments and yoga nidra classes take place in my beautiful cabin overlooking my garden. The cabin is a serene, warm space, cleaned daily (or more if necessary). All linens provided are freshly washed. All energy is provided by solar panels and heat pumps.
Accessibility: please get in touch if you have any access needs. I have tried to cover everything here but have no doubt missed something, so please ask. I strive to make my services accessible to all women, however as a tiny one woman business, my access is a little limited. Although manual wheelchairs are able to access the cabin across flat surfaces, a small gentle slope and with support over one small step, the loo is small and unable to accommodate a wheelchair. Unfortunately, I cannot accommodate power assist wheelchairs. Parking is available on my drive and free on the street.
For massage: if you would like to bring a carer/partner to assist you, they are most welcome. I am unable to do lifting but am able to provide support to a carer.
For deep rest yoga nidra: you have the option to sit in a comfortable chair if this would be more appropriate for you, or to lie on a yoga mat. Please let me know in advance your preference as I set up before you arrive.
For yoga: my training in accessible/chair yoga is in its early stages so although my intention is to provide classes suitable for all, without knowing each other, this may not be a fair representation. Please get in touch to discuss as it may work out perfectly, or it may be that I can direct you to someone more qualified to support you at this stage.
Lighting and music: Due to the nature of some classes (deep rest yoga nidra, restorative yoga especially), low lighting is often used within the cabin. Outside, full security lights light up the space. Music is sometimes played, this information is provided on request on a class by class basis as it changes depending on the theme and type of practice.
There is a loo available to use at any point.
Free deep rest recordings are available seasonally (get in touch to receive) and many additional resources to support you with breathwork, nutrition and self-massage are available on my blog.
Payment is in advance. Please note your appointment is not confirmed until payment is made.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR MASSAGE
On booking your massage, I will check if you have any medical conditions – very few are contra-indicated for massage so in most cases we can go ahead and book your appointment.
On arrival, we will complete a brief health consultation together to discuss your needs on the day and getting the most out of your treatment – perhaps you have a specific area of pain/tension, feel very stressed or just want to relax. I enjoy getting to know you and hope to have a long lasting professional relationship with you. If you have any questions about the benefits of massage for any particular health or wellbeing issue, please don’t hesitate to ask – I will be delighted to discuss with you, in complete confidence, how massage may be beneficial to you.
I will then leave the room to enable you to get undressed in private behind a screen. As you will be covered up during the massage, except for the area I am working on, you can rest assured that your modesty will be preserved at all times. If you’re uncomfortable at any time, too hot or cold or the pressure is too much, or not enough, just let me know.
Most people get the most benefit from their massage if they relax and drift off. However, feel free to chat if you wish. The lighting will be low, gentle music will be played and the room will be scented with essential oils.
After your massage has finished, I will again leave the room to enable you to get dressed in private. Before you leave we’ll discuss your aftercare advice and any stretching exercises that may benefit you.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR DEEP REST YOGA NIDRA APPOINTMENT
Lying on a mat (or sitting if you prefer), cocooned in blankets, with pillow and optional eye mask to optimise your comfort, you’ll first be be guided through breathing and yoga nidra techniques to calm your body and mind. There will be periods of quiet, allowing you to immerse yourself in the experience. We’ll finish with a cup of herbal tea to enable you to leave feeling ready for the rest of your day.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR NUTRITION APPOINTMENT
We’ll speak on the telephone first to understand your needs. This means I can prepare for your appointment in advance and be sure I am the right person to advise you. We will discuss simple nutritional tweaks to optimise your health and delve deeper into behavioural changes that might help you to embed greater nutritional benefit in your lifestyle. Please remember that you are in control of what you put in your mouth so I can advise you but you are the only one who can actually make these changes happen! If you have a medical condition, I am not insured or qualified to help you with this, so please be completely honest about this in the initial telephone consultation.
